Simply Earth March 2023 Box Review (1)

It’s March. That means we’re all fed-up with winter and well-deserving of a spa day!

Hi, I’m Erin. Mom of 2 and essential oil lover! Every month I take a break from baby-related topics to share about my other big obsession: essential oils.

I love making all-natural products for several reasons: First and foremost, I hate icky toxins in my house. Secondly, I get to keep my arm and leg (that’s a bad joke, but basically, all-natural products are expensive.

My favorite way to make all-natural products? The Simply Earth monthly essential oil box.

Every box contains 4 essential oils, 6 recipes, and 2-3 bonus goodies to help you create amazing DIY essential oil products. With this box, I’m always learning new essential oil recipes!

The Simply Earth March 2023 Box theme is Face Care.

I don’t know about you, but my face has taken a hit from the winter weather. The area around my forehead is dry, and my lips are constantly in danger of cracking. Indeed, my skin could definitely use some essential oil love right now!

This month’s box makes it so, so easy to create DIY, all-natural skin remedies that will set things right again!

In this post, we’re going to make some fabulous all-natural face masks, cleansers, and other spa-worthy recipes with the oils included in the Simply Earth Recipe Box. This is a mega-valuable box. Simply Earth sent out $208 worth of essential oil supplies (for only $44.00), and I’m so excited to share it with you!

I only recommend what I trust. Blunders in Babyland does not diagnose, treat, or advise medical conditions. I received this recipe box for free in order to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

First of all, if you just happened to stumble upon this post on Pinterest while looking for a good essential oil face mask, you’re probably wondering: who is Simply Earth and what is a Simply Earth recipe box?

Simply Earth is a small but mighty essential oil manufacturer based out of Wisconsin. They sell 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils for about a ¼ of the price as the “big guys.” You know the ones…

Simply Earth’s goal is to help their customers live a toxin-free lifestyle. If that’s your goal too, you need to check out this company.

Why is Simply Earth So Cheap?

Glad you asked!

  1. Simply Earth works directly with ethical farmers across the globe–no brokers!
  2. They manufacture their oils in their own commercial-grade kitchen. No warehouses or retailers!
  3. Simply Earth sells essential oils directly to customers at a lower margin. No MLMs! No distributors! More money in your pockets!

You can purchase most of their essential oils individually, but you’ll receive the best value when you subscribe to their monthly essential oil recipe box.

The box includes 4 essential oils, 6 recipes, and 2-3 items to help you make some seriously cool essential oil products.

What’s Included in the Simply Earth March 2023 Recipe Box

Before we get into the recipes, let’s take a look at what’s included in this box.

Even if you’re just here for the recipes and tutorials, I would highly recommend reading through this section. I include helpful information about these oils that you might want to know for future creations!

Essential Oils

Because our theme is “Face Care,” Simply Earth included essential oils that are rockstars at cleaning and hydrating your skin. Check it out!

Beauty Within

This month’s blend is “Beauty Within.” It’s a combination of myrrh, frankincense, rosemary, and lavender. In other words, it contains most of my favorite essential oils!

Frankincense is a staple oil that can be used to cleanse your face and improve your respiratory health. Lavender is excellent for decreasing inflammation, improving your mood, and assisting with sleep (night mask, anyone?).

Rosemary can be used to increase memory function and blood-flow (definitely a good thing to have in your morning cleansers.)

The only oil I wasn’t familiar with was myrrh. After some research, I discovered that myrrh can be used to kill bacteria and heal your skin. Fun!

Tea Tree

Once you have tea tree in your cabinet, you’ll use it for everything! Cold busters, DIY essential oil cleaning products, and face masks! Tea tree has some mad bacteria-fighting skills.

When used as a skin care product, it can help relieve acne and hydrate itchy, dry skin. One study found that tea tree oil was actually more effective at relieving allergic dermatitis than more popular products like zinc oxide.

Lemon Eucalyptus

Another very multi-purpose essential oil to have in the house! Most people use lemon and eucalyptus to create DIY household cleaners (like the cleaners I wrote about here.) However, these oils can actually be very effective face cleansers!

This blend detoxifies your skin and cleanses pores. I love the fresh, cooling effect eucalyptus oil has on my skin.

The best way to describe this scent: citronella. It reminds me of summertime and cookouts. But not mosquitos 😉

Coriander

Before receiving the Simply Earth March 2023 box, I had never used coriander essential oil. After doing some research, I discovered that coriander is actually very similar to lavender. It contains a chemical called linalool, which can help with the production of serotonin, cleanse your skin, and in some studies, treat cancer.

I really love the scent of coriander. It smells very fresh, but it’s also slightly sweet.

The Recipes

This month, our theme is “Face Care.” So, most of the recipes in this box are related to Face Care. I say “most” because it also includes fabulous diffuser and roll-on recipes.

The Recipes Are:

  • Exfoliating Face Wash
  • Gentle Face Cleanser (Made below)
  • Beauty Within Toner
  • Beautify Roll-On
  • Spring Rain Diffuser Blend (Made below)
  • Pore Clarifying Face Mask (Also made below)

The Bonuses

Woohoo, we get three bonuses this month. I am loving the value here!

  • Face Wash Powder – This all-natural face wash powder is perfect for cleansing and exfoliating.
  • Witch Hazel– In case you don’t know, witch hazel is an all-natural astringent. You can use it for a variety of beauty recipes, but for your skin, it cleanses your pores and relieves skin irritation.
  • Rose Kaolin Clay– you’ll use this to make your face masks!

Face Care Tutorials from the Simply Earth March 2023 Recipe Box

Are you ready to make some all-natural face care products? Let’s start with the gentle face cleanser.

Gentle Face Cleanser

Simply Earth March 2023 Box Gentle Face Cleanser (1)

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Simply Earth Face Wash Powder
  • ¼ tsp Almond Oil
  • 1 Drop Beauty Within Essential Oil Blend
  • Small Container

This recipe is so easy to make and so effective. First, we’re going to mix the essential oil and almond oil in a small bowl. Add the Simple Earth Face Wash Powder and stir until mixed. Put the mixture in a sealable container.

To use, lather a pea-sized amount in your wet hands. Apply it to your face and rinse!

Beauty Within Toner

Ingredients

  • 4 drops Beauty Within Essential Oil Blend
  • 1 Drop Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • 1 oz. witch hazel
  • 2 tsp almond oil
  • Optional: Simply Earth Natural Solubilizer
  • Cotton Ball

I did not use the Simply Earth Natural Solubilizer. If you decide to, simply combine it with the essential oils according to the solubilizer’s instructions.

If you’re not using the solubilizer, mix the essential oils and almond oil in a small bowl. Add the witch hazel. Make sure you shake it well, especially sans solubilizer. Apply with a cotton ball and follow up with your favorite face cream.

Pore Clarifying Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 Drop Lemon Eucalyptus
  • ½ tsp almond oil
  • ½ Tbsp Rose Kaolin Clay
  • 1 tsp witch hazel

First, mix the almond oil and the essential oils in a small bowl. Mix them for at least 30 seconds. I didn’t do this, and the oils separated a little later.

Add the kaolin clay. Mix in the witch hazel in small amounts until a paste forms. I actually didn’t use a full teaspoon…More like ¾ teaspoons.

Apply the mask to your face, avoiding your eyes. Sit back and relax for about 20 minutes. Then rinse! Your face will feel brand new!

Applying the mask went in stages for me. I didn’t follow the directions perfectly so the oils separated a little, but we got it done. I love how FRESH my face felt afterward!
