What is Simply Earth?
If you’re looking for a good essential oil manufacturer, Simply Earth is my favorite. They’re an honest company that produces 100% pure essential oils for an honest price.
Simply Earth was founded and owned by the Veldkamp family. The company started out searching for way to fix a problem: Katie’s stinky feet. They wanted to find a remedy through natural means, but soon discovered that essential oils were ridiculously expensive. So, they decided to do something about it!
After years of development, they created Simply Earth.
Simply Earth oils are held to the exact same standards as the “big guys”, but sold at a much lower price.
Why?
- All of their ingredients are purchased from ethical farmers, produced in a commercial-grade kitchen, and hand-packed by Simply Earth’s friendly staff. This cuts out the middle-man and saves big!
- This is not an MLM program which lowers costs
- Simply Earth passes along savings to their customers

Like most essential oil manufacturers, you can buy oils and supplies individually, but you’ll experience the most cost savings by signing up for Simply Earth’s monthly recipe box.

What’s Included in This Month’s Essential Oil Box
Essential Oils
Love
Every month, Simply Earth packs a blend. This month is, of course, related to Valentine’s Day!
Love is a combination of Orange, Ylang Ylang, Bergamot & Amyris Essential Oils. Bergamot is an excellent oil to use for relaxing muscles, Orange and Ylang Ylang promote feel-good emotions (a bit like love!), and Amyris is also linked with relaxation and reducing depression symptoms.
Some believe that Ylang Ylang can be used as an aphrodisiac (there isn’t any evidence for this though. However, there is evidence that it can help with depression symptoms).
Fennel
Most known for its gut-healing capabilities, fennel can actually be used to promote relaxation and stimulate your brain. Whether you’re feeling stomach cramps or a leg cramp, fennel is great essential oil to have in your cupboard.
Cardamom
I could go on and on about the benefits of cardamom. Cardamom is known for relieving digestion issues, but also respiratory ailments. Like ylang ylang, it’s heralded as an aphrodisiac. I’d be remiss to not mention cardamom’s unique, distinctive scent. It’s a little sharp, kind of like rosemary and tea tree mixed together. A single whiff is so invigorating!
Ginger
Do you often find yourself struggling with PMS symptoms? Headache? Muscle aches? Grab some ginger essential oil. Ginger contains an ingredient gingerol, which can encourages efficient digestion. Ginger can ease nausea, relieve muscle cramps (including pelvic cramps), and can improve your mood…all very handy benefits for that time of the month!

Bonuses
This month Simply Earth is including everything you need to make beautiful, DIY essential oil soaps.
Melt and Pour Soap Base- Usually a natural soap base is made from plant oil, glycerin, water, and sodium hydroxide (lye). Basically, you heat it, mix in your fragrance and colerant (if so desired), and pour into a soap mold. Easy!
Fuchsia Mica Powder- Many soaps contain chemical-laden dyes. This mica powder is vibrant, all-natural mineral that provides a great alternative to dyes.
Heart Soap Mold- So appropriate! I love it. This mold was so easy to use too.

Cleansing Sugar Scrub Bar
Ingredients
- .5oz. (1 square) melt and pour soap base
- 1 Tbsp almond oil
- 5 drops Cardamom Essential Oil
- 3 drops Ginger Essential Oil
- 2 drops Fennel Essential Oil
- 5 drops Love Essential Oil Blend
- Soap Mold
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
Mix the almond oil and essential oils together in a small bowl. Melt the soap base in a double-broiler or by microwaving in 5 second increments. I microwaved it. It must be 5 second increments though. This base melts quick and it can easily overheat and give you a lumpy soap.
Remove the melted soap base from the heat and add the oil mixture. Stir in the sugar next. Quickly pour the mixture into the mold. I had to reheat it another 10 seconds because the mixture thickened too much. Once again, be very cautious as you heat.
Wait for the soap to cool and remove it from the mold. Viola!
I’ve already tried the scrub out. It’s divine!
Bold Roll-On
Ingredients
- 3 drops Love Essential Oil Blend
- 2 drops Cardamom Essential Oil
- 1 drop Ginger Essential Oil
- 10ml fractionated coconut oil
- 10ml roll-on bottle
This might be the simplest tutorial you’ll ever read, but I couldn’t write this post without highlighting this roll-on recipe. It smells so invigorating!
Simply add all the essential oils to the roll-on bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with the coconut oil. Reapply the lid, give it a swirl, and you’re good to go. I always apply to my pulse points.
Swirled Heart Soap
Ingredients
- 1 pinch fuschia mica powder
- ¼ tsp 99% rubbing alcohol
- 4 squares soap base
- 5 drops Cardamom Essential Oil
- 3 drops Fennel Essential Oil
- 2 drops Ginger Essential Oil
- 3 drops Love Essential Oil
- Soap Mold
- 99% rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
Begin by mixing a pinch of mica powder with the rubbing alcohol in a small bowl.
Melt the soap base in either a double-broiler or by microwaving it in 5 second increments. I’ve tried both methods, and I honestly like microwaving it much more. Just make sure you don’t overheat.
Okay, after you melt the soap base, things get a little tricky. The key to success is speed!
Add half the soap base to the mica powder mixture. Stir and pour this mixture into a container with a spout. Pour both mixtures into the soap mold simultaneously. Use plenty of movement to get a pretty swirling pattern. Chances are, you’ll have to reheat the mixtures. The soap base solidifies very quickly.
Allow the soap to solidify completely before removing it from the mold. Spray the soap with 99% rubbing alcohol for best results.
This soap was a labor of love for me. It solidified so quickly, literally while I was pouring it into the mold! I really struggled with this recipe, but now that it’s finished, I’m pretty proud of it!
