What This Month’s Box Includes:
Essential oils
Defender
This blend smells fresh, outdoors-y and is totally loaded with those spices you associate with fall! Defender is a mix of cinnamon, rosemary, lemon, eucalyptus, and clove essential oil. All of these are considered powerhouses for immune support. Let me tell you about rosemary and clove, though!
Did you know that some essential oils can help kill staph? Clove oil is one of them! In fact, a 2018 study found that clove essential oil can kill a number of bacteria that can cause respiratory infections.
I love rosemary and use it quite frequently. It boosts your memory function (as a mom of 2, I desperately need this), may stimulate hair growth, and can reduce stress. Best of all, rosemary essential oil can break down the cell-walls of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Eucalyptus
In the olden days, medical staff used eucalyptus oil to disinfect bedpans. Today, essential oil lovers use it to clear their lungs, kill bacteria, and stop the production of viruses. That makes eucalyptus oil a very useful oil for household cleaning products, roll-ons, and home remedies.
Cedarwood (Himalayan)
Imagine walking into a spa. You breathe in deeply and a relaxing, soothing scent fills your nose. That’s what cedarwood smells like. It’s a spa in a bottle. Or rather, it’s probably the most common scent diffused in spas. Cedarwood can improve your cerebral activity, reduce stress, and even improve your sleep.
Bay
I’ve never used bay essential oil. I will say, bay essential oil does not smell like the leaf you use in cooking. This closest scent I can compare it to is a throat lozenge. So, when I researched the benefits of bay essential oil, it was no surprise when I found respiratory function on the list. I can definitely imagine running in this in my diffuser to clear my lungs. You can also use it as an astringent or to improve your circulation.

- Homemade Paperboard Tube- This is such a universal tool. You can make deodorant, chest rubs, or face rubs. This month, we’re going to use this for our chest rub.

Recipe Tutorials
Beauty Rest Weighted Eye Pillow
Ingredients:
- Weighed Eye Pillow Case
- .1oz lavender buds
- 3 Drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
- Filling (flax seed, buckwheat, or rice). I used rice.
- Cotton Ball
This weighted eye pillow recipe is fire!
To make it, remove the inner pouch from the pillow case. Add your filling. I used rice, but honestly, I would recommend flaxseed. Fill the inner pouch so it’s ¼ full. Add the lavender buds and shake it. Add 3 drops of cedarwood essential oil to the cotton ball and put the cotton ball in the pouch. Seal the pouch and you’re good to go!
Sleepy Bug Chest Rub
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup + 2Tbsp solid coconut oil
- 2tsp beeswax
- 10 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
- Paperboard tube
- 2 tsp cornstarch
First of all, don’t be intimidated because we’re melting oils. This recipe is totally a cinch to make.
Heat the coconut oil and beeswax in either a double-broiler or a microwaveable bowl. I microwaved the bowl in 10 second intervals. It’s REALLY important not to burn the oil. Once the oils melt, stir in the essential oils. Quickly stir in the cornstarch. Once everything is mixed (no chunks) pour the mixture into the paperboard tube. Sometimes the mixture cools before you can get it in the tube. That’s okay! Just heat it for another 10 seconds.
That’s it!
Home Defender Cleaning Spray
Ingredients:
- 1 Simply Earth cleaning tablet
- 40 Drops Defender Essential Oil Blend
- 16oz spray bottle
- 16oz distilled water
This is the quickest essential oil recipe tutorial you’ll ever read. Simply mix the tablet, essential oils, and water in a cup. The tablet takes a while to dissolve. Just give it a few minutes and stir occasionally. Once the tablet dissolves, pour the mixture into the spray bottle.
That’s it! Have fun destroying that pesky bacteria!
