Are you new to Simply Earth? I’ve been a customer of Simply Earth since 2019, and, honestly, I have no plans to use anyone else!
Simply Earth is an essential oil manufacturer based out of Wisconsin. They offer 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils for a fantastic price. Typically, Simply Earth oils can be found at ¼ price of the larger essential oil retailers.
My favorite reasons to use Simply Earth:
- 100% pure oils: no additives and they post the GC/MS results right on their website
- Oils are completely affordable
- They’ve helped me learn a ton of new essential oil recipes–subscribers have access to the exclusive Facebook group and the Essential Hero e-course (think essential oils 101). Plus, their monthly boxes are loaded with new recipes
- Ingredients are ethically farmed internationally. They actually work directly with farmers!
- Simply Earth donates 13% of their profits to charities
The Simply Earth Recipe Boxes
Simply Earth gained their name to fame through their monthly recipe boxes. Basically, every month they send out a themed box containing 4 essential oils, 6 recipes, and 2-3 bonuses to make the recipes.
If you’re new to essential oils, the recipe box provides a fun way to teach you new recipes and help you begin using essential oils regularly. When I first started using essential oils, I could pretty much just drop it into the diffuser. That’s it.
Thanks to the recipe boxes, I can make homemade cleaning supplies (as we’ll do together below), candles, soap, skin care products, and even wax diffusers on occasion.
The really cool thing about Simply Earth’s recipe boxes? They’re dirt cheap. If you use the code BABYLANDFREE, you’ll get the box for $44.99, plus a free $40 e-gift card, plus an entire bonus box.
The bonus boxes contain all the carrier oils, roll-on bottles, 5ml bottles, and waxes you need to make your epic oil-y solutions. It’s a steal.
What’s Included in this month’s Simply Earth Essential Oil Box?
Essential Oils
This month, the theme is cleaning. So, it follows that the oils included are very efficient at un-aliving bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Sweet Orange
If you love a little citrus but can’t stand the overwhelming bitterness of regular orange, sweet orange is a good one for you! This oil smells fresh, energizing, and a little bit like candy.
It’s also a great oil to use in your daily skin-care routine. Sweet orange contains a chemical called limonene, which boosts your immune system, removes cells damaged by free radicals, and relieves stress.
As a household cleaner, sweet orange kills bacteria, fungi, and sterilizes surfaces.
Black Pepper
I’ve never used black pepper essential oil before. So, before writing this article, I had to do a little research about it.
Black pepper is actually steam distilled from peppercorn produced in western India. Back in the Middle-Ages, rich people purchased it to mask the smell of decomposing meat. Having said that, it was also a common ingredient in potions and elixirs.
Do you know why?
Black pepper is a great remedy for muscle pain, it aids with detoxification, loosening mucus, improving digestion, and–most importantly for this post–it stopping bacterial production.
As one might expect, the scent of Black Pepper essential oil is very strong, and the oil itself is very concentrated. So, Simply Earth included a 5ml bottle in this month’s recipe box.
Clean & Fresh
I’ve used this essential blend several times before and love it.
It’s a mix of Fir Needle, Neroli, Lemon, and Grapefruit. Fir Needle and Lemon are great for eliminating bacteria and cleaning surfaces. Neroli is really interesting though. Studies have shown that it can eliminate six types of bacteria, two types of yeast, and three different types of fungi. Grapefruit balances the tangy blend, giving it a sweet after-scent.
Homebody
Simply Earth thoughtfully packed another blend for us! This scent is very hard to describe. In a word, I’d say… tangy? Peaceful? Maybe woodsy. Homebody includes Ho Wood, Amyris, Copaiba, and Vetiver. I’m going to guess that you are not familiar with any of these oils (I sure wasn’t), so let’s unpack each one individually.
- Vetiver: Improves respiration, repels bugs, and increases alertness.
- Copaiba: A solid antibacterial oil that relieves muscle plan and increases muscle relaxation.
- Ho Wood: Great antibacterial properties and considered a “feel good” oil. The scent is very relaxing. It’s also a fantastic bug repellent.
- Amyris: Another bug repellent, improves respiratory function, and may be linked with increased cognitive function.
Bonuses
I love how Simply Earth always surprises their clients with new, fun bonuses! These bonuses are incredibly practical and most of them are good for multiple uses!
Laundry Detergent Sheet
I’ve heard of dryer sheets, but detergent sheets? Nope.
Basically, to use this, you’ll place it directly into the washing machine drum with a load of laundry. From what research I’ve done, laundry detergent sheets are best for typical loads that aren’t soiled (like from coffee stains or tough mud stains, etc.) and can be placed in front-loading washers as well.
Swedish Dishcloth
Once again, I’d never heard of this. Ever. I need to get out more.
A Swedish dishcloth basically takes the place of a sponge or regular dishcloth. You’ll be using this with your dish soap recipe.
Castile Soap
Speaking of the dish soap recipe, Simply Earth also included castile soap. Castile soap is an all-natural, plant oil-based, all-purpose cleaner. It can clean just about anything–your skin, hair, and yes, your grimy countertops.
Recipes
The theme this month is “cleaning!” So, we’re going to make a lot of fun (thankfully easy) DIY cleaning solutions.
The recipes included with the box are:
- 1-2-3 Laundry Sheet
- Dish Tab Oven Cleaner
- Clean & Fresh Dish Soap
- Up & At ‘Em Roll-On Blend
- Spic and Span Diffuser Blend
- Homebody Foaming Hand Soap
Recipe Tutorials: 3 DIY Essential Oil Cleaning Recipes
Dish Tab Oven Cleaner
Ingredients:
- 1 Simply Earth Dishwasher Tab
- 3 Drops Clean and Fresh Essential Oil Blend
- 8oz. Hot water
- Gloves
It seems like the glass on my oven is always dirty, no matter how often I clean. I hate using harsh chemicals to clean it. I mean…we’re cooking our meals in that! This recipe is effective and non-toxic and I quite possibly love it.
To begin, fill a bowl with hot water and 5 drops of Clean & Fresh essential oil blend. Either remove the dishwasher tab from the packaging or soap it in water for a few seconds (I let it soak until the packaging dissolved). Dip the dishwasher tab into the bowl to wet. Then, scrub the glass window of the over.
Homebody Foaming Hand Soap
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp castile soap
- 8 Drops Homebody Essential Oil Blend
- Foaming hand soap dispenser
- ½ cup distilled water
- 24 drops Geogard ECT Preservative (optional)
Foaming soap can be so expensive. I love that this is all-natural and won’t cost you an arm and a leg to make.
First, swirl the essential oils and castile soap inside the foaming hand soap dispenser. If you’re using the Geogard ECT Preservative, add it now. I didn’t use it. Add ½ cup of distilled water to the mixture.
You’re done!
Clean & Fresh Dish Soap
- 1 Tbsp castile soap
- 8 drops Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend
- Swedish dishcloth
- 1oz. Bottle (I used the castile soap bottle)
I hope this recipe is easy enough for you. Add the essential oils to the castile soap and mix (make sure you only have a Tbsp of castile soap leftover from the last recipe).
Wet the Swedish dishcloth, add a dab of dish soap, and wash the dishes!
