My husband and I were on a business trip when I got that fateful positive test.
I remember praying in the hotel bathroom, “It’s okay if it’s negative, God. But please help me understand that now isn’t the right time.” The test came back negative. I cried a little bit, but I accepted it. Except…when I looked again…a second line had appeared.
What came next was a beautiful, terrifying, exhausting, and exciting journey that I’m still traveling.
From one mom to another, CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy. Motherhood is a journey, and it’s so rewarding (even if it can be a thankless job sometimes). Reading God’s Word is absolutely essential for equipping, comforting, encouraging, and transforming you.

Inspiring Bible Verses About Pregnancy
What does the Bible say about pregnancy? Well, it’s actually mentioned SEVERAL times! Don’t worry, I’m skipping the scriptures on the pain of labor and getting right to the beauty and wonder of it.
These passages are great quotes for a pregnancy announcement, but also to celebrate the miracle of life that is happening in your body!
1 Samuel 1:27
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.”
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 22:10
“On you was I cast from my birth, and from my mother’s womb you have been my God.”

Powerful Bible Verses for Pregnancy and Safe Delivery
Need some powerful bible verses to encourage you during the more anxious moments of pregnancy and delivery?
I struggled with A LOT of anxiety when I was expecting. Although I mostly had a healthy pregnancy, we had some hiccups. My babies were breech, we had a few scary ultrasounds, and I gave birth during the height of COVID.
And then afterward, with postpartum anxiety (here is a great article on overcoming anxiety with scripture).
I prayed a lot during these stressful times. From one mom to another, let me reassure you: Scripture does ease your worries. I hope the scriptures below encourage you!
Matthew 6:26-27
Look at the birds of the air … Are you not of more value than they? (27) And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
Psalm 61:2
“from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Isaiah 41:10

Final thing: During labor (just before pushing), I listened to the album, Scripture Lullabies. One of the songs, “Wonderfully Made” helped me feel so close to God in that moment. These songs are perfect for peace in the moment, but also great lullabies for your baby’s nighttime routine.

Bible Verses for Babies
Mama, I’m not going to lie. Sometimes, that little bundle of “joy” is going to be the source of pure insanity.
Maybe you’re experiencing doubts right now. It can be difficult to see the blessing of a child, when you’re worried about your situation, finances, or health.
Or perhaps you were so excited about your baby…but now that little one screams all day and all night, and you’re so exhausted that you can’t see straight. You find yourself torn between resentment toward your baby, and the guilt for even feeling it.
You’ll have to remind yourself that God knew your baby’s personality even in utero, that his frame was not hidden, that he was woven together, and created for a purpose.
Here’s a few passages to help us remember how precious our children are. (They’re also great to read over your baby from Day 1!)
Psalm 127:3-4
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth.”

Verses for Motherhood
It doesn’t matter how many baby books you read–sometimes you just won’t have the answers. I think motherhood is just another way God reminds us of our dependency on Him!
As a mom you feel like you’ve lost your sense of “self.” I found that as a stay-at-home mom, I questioned my entire purpose. Like, what’s the point? I have a college degree and yet I’m wiping butts all day.
I forgot that motherhood is a calling–a holy one too. I’m raising a human being and, more importantly, a human soul.
The passages below remind us of that incredibly important purpose.
They’ll also encourage and equip you. When your miracle baby has turned into a rebellious toddler who makes you question why you ever wanted to become a parent…you’ll start to question yourself and your capabilities.
Remember that our perfect, righteous God made you this baby’s mom. He will equip you through His Word!
