1 Bar Necklace
Personalized jewelry is pretty much a hallmark of a woman’s first Mother’s Day. My husband chose a bar necklace featuring my daughters’ birthstones and an engraving with the coordinates of their birthplaces.
Isn’t that sweet?
If you’re looking for inspiration, I love this bar necklace from Oak and Luna. It’s plated with 18k gold, but you can also get rose gold or silver, depending on your girl’s preference.
2 FitBit
Words cannot express how you will appreciate a smart watch after motherhood. It’s a great tool to burn off the baby weight and keep track of your steps. Or check you’re texts when you’re breastfeeding and your phone is aaaallll the way over there.
I personally like the Fitbit because it’s small (I have tiny wrists) and it can sync with my other fitness apps. I also like that it has a huge range of integrations (like Alexa, GooglePlay, and, of course, the Starbucks app).
3 First Mother’s Day Photo Frame
Looking for a low-budget mother’s day gift for first time moms? Photo frames are my go-tos! I think this glass and walnut photo frame is modern, contains up to six pictures, and can be personalized.
4 Tote Bag
Look, a tote is a rite of motherhood. You switch out the adorable tiny wallet for the gargantuan shoulder bag that can hold two spare outfits, multiple diapers, and a miniature pharmacy.
Amazon has some pretty good deals on designer tote bags (like Michael Kors totes, for example). A word of caution though–make sure you’re purchasing from a reputable seller to ensure that the bag is real.
5 Essential Oils Recipe Box
I didn’t start using essential oils until I was pregnant. Now I adore them. I’ve created cleaning solutions, cold remedies, postpartum aids, soap, and candles with these boxes.
Get her a fun essential oils gift box from my favorite essential oil manufacturer, Simply Earth. Their oils are 100% pure, sourced from trustworthy farmers, and so, so affordable.
If you’d like to gift your new mom with a monthly recipe box subscription, you can use my code BABYLANDFREE to get her a free bonus box and $40 e-giftcard as well. Or, if you’d rather buy your oils ala carte, you can just visit their website here.

6 Ear Buds
Your new mom will be spending alot of time feeding her baby over the next few months. There is an unexpected benefit to sitting around for an additional four hours a day–she can catch up on all episodes of her favorite show.
A good set of earbuds is the gift she didn’t know she needed.
Everyone raves about the Apple airpods. Personally, I like the Jabras Elites. The bass and sound dampening features are excellent for working out, but I also enjoy the “hear-through” features which allows me to keep one ear open for my kids.
The battery life is pretty impressive as well.
7 New Mom Mug
Looking for a more casual gift for her first mother’s day? Get her something that she’ll use frequently and love for years to come: a coffee mug.
I adore my Ember mug because it keeps my coffee hot for a good long while. However, if you’re looking for something less expensive and personalized, check out this one.
8 Instapot
Hands down, this is the best gift I have ever given. An Instapot is a crockpot, pressure cooks, sautes, roasts, and makes rice within minutes.
The actual Instapot (not the off-brand) has over 99,000 reviews on Amazon and a 4.5 star rating. The off-brand options are highly-rated and super affordable though.
9 Risen Motherhood Book
Blow-outs, breastfeeding, and exhaustion–it’s easy to let the everyday hardships distract us from a healthy spiritual life.
Risen Motherhood isn’t just another “how-to” for exhausted new moms. I mean, it does give some pretty sturdy parenting advice, but it also shows moms how to have grace for themselves and tie every aspect of their life (diapers, their marriage, even their food choices) back into the gospel. I love this because new moms especially feel so much pressure to get things right. This book reminds us that we can’t and that’s okay. That’s what Jesus is here for.
On a side note, I love the design of this book. It’s super cute and full of flowers and engraved letters. I know that’s small, but hey, I noticed it! Your mom probably
10 Kindle Paperwhite
Listen. I stopped reading before I became a mom. Then all of a sudden, I had a good 4-5 hours to read. It is near impossible to read an actual book while you’re breastfeeding though. That’s where the Kindle comes in.
The Paperwhite has a 6.8” screen (that’s nearly printed book size), nearly waterproof (perfect for relaxing baths, hint hint), and has up to 10 weeks of battery life. Crazy.
Best of all, she can mount it on the end table next to her rocking chair and use the…
11 Page Clicker
If you buy the Kindle Paperwhite, you need to get her a page turner clicker. Imagine it, she’s breastfeeding (or just laying under the covers), her kindle is mounted right next to her, and then–ugh–she has to turn the page. Now she has to reach over, which distracts the baby, just to swipe.
The page clicker ends that inconvenience. Click and flip.
12 Gift Basket
Breastfeeding and postpartum gift baskets are trending. This postpartum basket includes helpful yet luxurious supplies like body butter. a new mom mug) and spa goodies.
13 Mom Sweatshirt
Every new mama needs some mama apparel. Etsy is one of my favorite places to shop for mom personalized mom gear, but this one on Amazon is adorable and customizable!
14 Mommy and me head-bands
Are you buying for a girl mom? Matching headbands are super cute and make great photo-ops!
15 Manicure Set
There’s a pretty good chance that going to a salon for a mani is the last thing on her mind right now. For one, manicures are so expensive. For another, it might also be difficult to leave baby behind for a few luxurious hours.
So, bring the salon to her!
If you favor quality over convenience, you could try putting together your own manicure box. Typically she’d need the following for an at-home manicure:
- Nail base
- Nail polish
- Nail polish remover
- Nail tools: Clippers, a filer, and a buffer
- Cuticle sticks
Alternatively, you could also buy a kit. These might not offer quality tools or polishes, but they are convenient and budget-friendly.
16 Why a Son Needs a Mom
These books are so sweet.
I bought “Why a Daughter Needs a Dad” for my husband a couple years ago and he still reads it to our girls. The illustrations are so beautiful. The only downside is that this is a longer book, so it’ll probably take her a few reading sessions to get through it.
17 Massage
Giving birth is hard on a woman’s body, but do you know what really puts knots in the neck? Feeding a baby for hours.
Grab her a gift card at the local masseuse and offer to take the baby for a couple hours. She’ll feel like a new woman.
