Essential Oils

Since the theme is home remedies, these oils primarily focuses on relieving inflammation, aches, pains, and, of course, general boo-boos.

Bergamot

First of all, what the heck is a bergamot? A bergamot is a type of citrus fruit from Italy. It produces a very unique scent. Think citrus with a hint of floral. Like many citrus oils, bergamot is a photosensitive essential oil. Be careful applying before you head out into the sunlight.

Now, what is bergamot good for? Many essential oil users apply it topically to reduce inflammation and pain. It also works great as a stress reliever.

Copaiba

This is a Brazilian oil that also aids with inflammation and pain relief. Some research (practiced on mice, not humans) showed decreased pain responses for those suffering from MS.  Copaiba is also a great detoxifying agent and studies have shown that reduces the spread of bacteria. I really like that it has a subtle scent similar to tea tree oil.

Cajeput

Speaking of tea tree oil, let’s talk about an oil very similar. Cajeput can be used to promote respiration (it’s a great expectorant) and it kills bacteria.

The scent is very unique. I detect a slightly fruity undertone that is a little more pleasant that eucalyptus.

Relief Blend

I predict you’ll use this one for everything from cleaning products to face masks. The Relief Blend smells so fresh and uplifting!

Relief is a mix of eucalyptus, copaiba, peppermint (this is the strongest scent I detect) juniper berry, & rosemary essential oils.

I’m sure you already know all about peppermint, copaiba, and eucalyptus, so let’s talk about the benefits of juniper berry and rosemary.  Rosemary is great to use if you suffer from arthritis. It increases blood flow, circulation, and decreases inflammation. It’s also great for memory function.

Juniper berry is most used for calming the nervous system and easing sore joints.

Soap Mold

I love that Simply Earth included a soap mold this month! It is so ridiculously easy to make DIY essential oil soap. I can’t wait to show you how! This soap mold is actually specifically for creating massage soap bars.

Natural Lotion Base

How would you like to ease your aching muscles while hydrating your skin? You’re going to love the lotion base. Simply Earth also sells it a la carte in 8oz jars, but this 1 oz. jar allows you to simply add the oils and go.

Reusable Hot and Cold Compress Pad

I was really intrigued by the compress pad! I suffer from headaches semi-regularly (#momlife, haha)  and this compress pad sounds divine. It’s good for both cold compresses and heat compresses.

Comfort Compress

Simply Earth October 2022 Box - Comfort Compress (1)

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 tsp fractionated coconut oil
  • 1 drop copaiba essential oil
  • 1 drop relief essential oil blend
  • Reusable compress pad
  • ¼ cup cold or hot water

I love my kids, but sometimes it feels like I have a perpetual headache. I am sooo excited to use this compress.

Making it was so easy.

Just mix the fractionated (liquid) coconut oil and essential oils in a bowl. Add cold water for a cold compress, or hot water for a warm compress. Simply saturate your compress and squeeze out the water. Viola

Muscle Tamer Massage Bar

Simply Earth October 2022 Recipe Box - Muscle Tamer Massage Bar (1)

Ingredients Needed

  • 1 Tbsp almond oil
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil (solid)
  • 2 Tbsp beeswax
  • 30 Drops Relief Essential Oil Blend
  • 15 Drops Cajeput Essential Oil Blend
  • 15 Drops Copaiba Essential Oil Blend

Melt the almond oil, coconut oil, and beeswax in a double-broiler or microwaveable bowl. I used the microwave and stirred every 10 seconds. Using short intervals is really important.

Stir the melted waxes until well-mixed, then allow the mixture to cool just a little. Ideally, you want the edges to harden a little. If you let it harden too much (like I did), you’ll need to reheat.

Add the essential oils.

Pour the mixture into the mold and allow it to cool for about an hour. Once it has hardened COMPLETELY, you can remove the soap from the mold.

Easy, right? Keep it in your shower and use it after a workout or a long day of work.

Sports Relief Lotion
