Ylang Ylang
The ylang ylang tree grows in East Asia and blooms graceful yellow petals. As an oil, ylang ylang smells sweet and floral. You’ve probably noticed this scent in popular perfumes and handsoaps. It’s perfect for making beauty-related essential oil gifts!
But what’s the benefit of ylang ylang? Well, it’s mostly known for regulating the oils in your skin, giving it a more youthful, hydrated appearance. Studies also suggest that it may reduce blood pressure and anxiety. It’s also a common essential oil to help with sleeplessness.
Focus
This is the essential oil blend you want to wear at 1:00pm Monday when you’re starting to feel yourself fade fast! Focus is a mix of orange, eucalyptus, cardamom, and frankincense. It’s the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. Orange is known for uplifting your mood while cardamom is calming and soothing. Eucalyptus increases awareness and purifies (it was actually used as an antiseptic in early medicine).
Frankincense
Like ylang ylang, frankincense is used in many skin regimens. Frankincense possesses anti-inflammatory properties and can improve your skin’s elasticity. Frankincense can also be used to help combat respiratory issues, like bronchitis, asthma, and sinusitis.
Cassia
Mmm, this is one of my all-time favorite essential oils. It smells like cinnamon but better! Cassia is known for improving circulation (yet again, making it an excellent choice for skin remedies), improving your mood, and relieving nausea. It also possesses antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Favorite Recipes from the Simply Earth November 2022 Box
Royalty Facial Serum
Ingredients Needed:
- 1.5 tsp almond oil
- 1 drop Frankincense Essential Oil
- Serum Bottle
To make this recipe, fill the serum container with almond oil, about to the neck, and add a drop of Frankincense oil. Easy-peasy!
Mini Macrame Plant Hanger
Ingredients Needed:
- Macrame Rope
- 1 Round Wood Bead
- 1 Ring Bead
- 2 drops Cassia Essential Oil
- Small Plant or Jar
- Measuring Tape
- Scissors
To be honest, I was so nervous about making this plant hanger, but it was actually pretty easy. To begin, cut the macrame rope into 4 strands, each one measuring 29.5 inches. Afterward, fold the four strands in half (I folded them over my finger to ensure that they were completely straight and even). Pull the fold through the ring bead. Lift the bottoms of the strands through the fold and around the ring to make a knot attached to the ring bead.
Tie an overhand knot about 2.5 inches down from the ring bead using two strings. Repeat with the other three pairs. Separate the pairs of strings and regroup them in a new pair with the other string lying next to it. Create an overhang knot 1 inch below the last knot. Pull all the strings together at the bottom and tie an overhang knot.
I know this sounds a little difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. But here is a fantastic video tutorial from Simply Earth to help!
Essential Oil Bottle Reed Diffuser
Ingredients Needed:
- Bamboo Cap
- Diffuser Reeds
- 5mL blend of Holiday Spice Diffuser
- Vodka or pure alcohol
Another easy recipe! We’re going to mix the Holiday Spice blend in a 5mL bottle (included in your bonus box) and add the reeds. To make the Holiday spice blend, add 1 drop cassia, 2 drops focus, 1 drop ylang ylang, and 1 drop frankincense. Add the cork diffuser cap to the top of the bottle and add the reeds. If you want to prolong the scent, you can add a couple drops of vodka or pure alcohol to the bottle.
Surprisingly, the reeds diffuse the oils incredibly potently. Within minutes my kitchen smelled amazing!
